FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DOM GELSOMINO ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR HOUSE SEAT IN IDAHO’S 21ST LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

IT’S OFFICIAL: MY NAME IS DOM GELSOMINO, AND I’M PROUDLY RUNNING TO EARN YOUR VOTE AND SERVE YOU AS STATE REPRESENTATIVE!

[MERIDIAN, IDAHO, February 2022] – Republican small business owner and current Parks and Recreation Commissioner Dom Gelsomino announced that he will be seeking his party’s nomination to represent the people of Idaho’s 21st Legislative District as state representative, a place he says, “deserves experienced common-sense solutions for the most extraordinary Idahoans.”

“You don’t have to look too far to see why I continue to be so passionately committed to being involved in and serve our community and state. It’s the people! It’s our friends and neighbors, those that make up the fabric of this beautiful place we call home, and make it such an amazing place to live, work, and raise a family, that I am proud to say, I am running for the State House!,” Dom said in his first campaign advertisement.

“I’m running to bring a strong and experienced voice to the legislature, to improve our education system, strengthen our infrastructure and healthcare systems, provide tax relief to families and small businesses looking to rebuild from the pandemic, and to build the bridges and the partnerships we need to lead us toward a better and brighter future,” Dom said to finish his announcement.

When Dom first ran for office years ago, he recognizes that he was young and inexperienced. With a strong desire to represent a broader constituency one day, Dom rolled up his sleeves and found himself in positions such as Parks and Recreation Commissioner, where he strengthened his relationship with members of the very community he’s running to represent today.

Dom’s experience and love for his community doesn’t come without vast recognition. Today, Dom’s campaign proudly announces its early support and endorsements from the following individuals: former Republican State Senators Shawn Keough and Marv Hagedorn – who also served as Director for Veterans Services, former Republican State Representative and West Ada School Board Member Steve Smylie, and in his capacity as a private citizen, Chief of the City of Meridian Police Department Tracy Basterrechea.

Dom’s announcement for state representative also features the glowing and resounding support from various small business owners and leaders, as well as a long-time city volunteer within the district. A longtime resident of Meridian, a father and family man, Dom is a conservative leader driven by his faith, dedicating himself to both his family – including two dogs – and public service for the community he proudly calls home.

In 2011, Dom served as Chief of Staff to – then State Senator – now Congressman Russ Fulcher. He also had the privilege of serving as Communications Director to former Republican State Senator Curt McKenzie.

In recent years, Dom had the incredible honor of being appointed by former Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd to serve as both the Government Affairs Advisor to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, and as a Commissioner on the Parks and Recreation Commission. In 2020, with the support of his fellow Commissioners, Dom went on to serve as President of the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Dom is the experienced, conservative candidate looking to build bridges and work to tackle the important issues facing Idahoans. As a US-born son of Italian immigrants, Dom is not afraid to use his experience to serve as a strong advocate and provide for his constituency. Over the next few months of going door to door, meeting with voters, he is committed and looks forward to earning the trust and majority of the vote in the May 17, 2022 Republican Primary, and then again in the November 8, 2022 General Election.
